"Literature of Place" at Bluegrass Bioneers

This Saturday, October 22, I'll be giving an hour-long lecture at the Bluegrass Bioneers Conference, held at the University of Louisville. Information on "The Leading Sustainable Solutions Conference" is here. My presentation will be at 11:00 AM, location tba. I'll be talking about authors such as Gary Snyder, William Stafford, Barry Lopez, and Wendell Berry, and discussing ways of incorporating a "literature of place" into education, publications, and artist residencies. The whole conference is free!

Five poems in Zoland Poetry #5

The fifth and, from what I understand, final volume of the Zoland Poetry Annual is out now and can be purchased online at Random House. Four of my poems from my BlazeVOX release Interstitial are within, as well as "Pioneer Graves at Lone Fir" which remains unpublished but for here! My gracious thanks to Roland Pease and Zoland Poetry, who provided me not only with the opportunity to publish but also with a fellowship to attend the Vermont Studio Center in July '10.

My poem "Why the inland people call some kinds of water kill" (the title actually two lines of Heather McHugh's) appears in Issue 74 of CutBank. The poem was written during my tenure at the Vermont Studio Center in July of 2010.

"Mariposa Lilies" is in Volume 6.1 of Silk Road, a journal of "place" poems which comes out of Pacific University in Oregon.

In anticipation of Timothy Donnelly's reading in Louisville, KY (@ the Sarabande Reading series in the galleries of the 21c Museum and Hotel), I wrote a brief write up at the LEO Weekly, including a smallish review or The Cloud Corporation.
