The Zoland Poetry Fellowship!

Well, it seems I won this wonderful fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center, where I'll be spending the month of July doing nothing but writing. I'm incredibly happy about it. They even have a chef. Which means I don't have to cook, shop, or do dishes. For a month. I can just kind of walk around, look at birds, listen to the river. Heaven, Heaven, Heaven. Heavy.

Concerning a particularly creepy bit of history in the Hell's Canyon region of Oregon, this poem was written in Fishtrap's borrowed canyon on the Imnaha River. Love Terns nominated for a Pushcart

The poem that has the weirdest history, "Love Terns", which I wrote for my wife, which got my wife and I flown to New York, London, Monte Carlo, and Spain, that got letter pressed with the help of my friend and artist Chris Harmon, and that got published by Blood Orange Review, has been nominated by that publication for a Pushcart Prize.

Mike Burwell, founder of Cirque, a new journal out of Anchorage, Alaska, has published my prose poem, "Freezeout Creek", written while in residency in the Imnaha River Canyon at the Fishtrap cabin. The journal is dedicated to the voices and themes of the North Pacific Rim. The poem raps on a strange murderer who lives on the edge of Hell's Canyon.

My good friend Doug always told me, "If you want to change your life, have a baby." So that's what Erynn and I did. After a particularly vivid display on the sonogram, out baby's one-and-only name is "Wiggles." Look, you'll know what I mean when you have one...until then, just wait.

My wife did all the text on the photos. Happy New Year, all.
